WELCOME 2010

Happy New Year! Welcome to the 2010 version of courtneyatkinson.com.au

Might not be as fancy as the 2009 flash version but its much more interactive and will be working together with also new twitter and facebook social accounts to keep everyone interested up to speed faster and with more content than previous years. Have a look around. Check it out and let me know if there is something else you would like to see / know or get rid of.

OK on to what’s going on….well 2009 ended awesome. December was holiday time and I managed to get away for a few weeks up to one of my favorite places Japan.  Started in Tokyo seeing the sights and friends then up to the Northern Island of Hokkaido for some snow time. Was very early in the season, but there was reasonable snow already and got some borading in as well as mucking around town as it was my daughters first time at the slopes.

Left Japan maxing at -5c and landed at the Gold Coast to 30c+ temperatures and was out running that afternoon. BIG CHANGE! No time to waste though as only 14 weeks til first major races of the season and normally I would be in good shape by Christmas….this year just starting out. Will be a bit of  a slower start to the year but I am hoping it will pay dividends once I hit the European summer and the racing really kicks in.

2010 schedule is yet to be fully confirmed but looking at a similar racing schedule to last year. Will start of in Mooloolaba World Cup and finish up trying to get the 3rd consecutive win at the Noosa Tri.

I will be based in Aix Les Bains, France again for 4-5 months over the European summer which I am looking forward to this year.  Plan to get to Europe early, settle in to training and keep things as simple as possible. I actually really like training out of this town. Good riding, good pool, swimable lake and great weather.

World Championship Series kicks of in Mid April @ the Sydney Opera house and finishes with the Grand Final in Budapest in September.

One change for 2010….I have signed up to race in the French Grand Prix Series for EC Satrouville Triathlon.  This means while based in France I will race a number of sprint distance races in the French league. The Satrouville team is stacked….Brownlee, Gomez, Petzold…. top three of the world championship last year are in the team so I think we could be hard to beat!

Plenty of training to do over the next few months. Its very humid at the moment here on the Gold Coast so its going to be a long road back to full fitness. can’t wait to get back racing…that’s why we train isn’t it?

Good luck to everyone with their ambitions in 2010. Let’s hope its a great year for all.
